How will the Postage Increases on May 11th, 2009 affect your business?

The US Postal Service is increasing their postage rates effective May 11th, 2009.  We know that your first question will be ”How will this affect my budget?”  To help answer that, this page will provide you with the rate changes for the most common services used by our customers along with an approximation of the increase you will see for each service.

Single Piece Rates

  • The cost of a First Class Stamp for one-ounce letters will increase from $0.42 to $0.44.
  • The cost of a First Class Postcard Stamp will increase from $0.27 to $0.28.

Presorted First Class Rates

  • The cost of Automation First Class Presorted Letters (1-ounce) will increase from between $0.324 and $0.369 to between $0.335 and $0382.  Customers sending Automation Presorted First Class Letters should expect to see an increase of approximately 1.1 cents per piece.
  • The cost of Automation Presorted First Class Postcards will increase from between $0.199 and $0.223 to between $0.205 and $0.230.  Customers sending Automation Presorted First Class Postcards should expect to see an increase of approximately 0.7 cent per piece. 

 Standard Mail Rates

  • The cost of Automation Standard Letters will increase from between $0.225 and $0.257 to between $0.233 and $0.270.  Customers sending Automation Standard Letters should expect to see an increase of approximately 1 cent per piece. 
  • The cost of Automation Nonprofit Standard Letters will increase from between $0.127 and $0.159 to between $0.132 and $0169.  Customers sending Automation Nonprofit Standard Letters should expect to see an increase of approximately 0.7 cent per piece.
